Roberto Clemente Statue
Location: 115 Federal St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican baseball legend who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 to 1972.
A 15-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion, he was the first Latin American and Caribbean player inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Beyond his athletic achievements, Clemente was a vocal advocate for Latin American and Black players, fighting against discrimination, poor working conditions, and unfair pay in Major League Baseball. His activism helped pave the way for better treatment of international players. Off the field, he was a dedicated humanitarian, using his platform to support underserved communities.
He tragically died in a plane crash on December 31, 1972, while delivering aid to Nicaraguan earthquake victims, cementing his legacy as both a sports icon and a champion for social justice.

Located just outside PNC Park
The Roberto Clemente statue at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park honors his legacy as both a baseball icon and a humanitarian. Originally unveiled in 1994 outside the Pirates’ former stadium, Three Rivers Stadium, it was later moved to PNC Park when the new ballpark opened in 2001.
It stands at the north end of the Roberto Clemente Bridge, symbolizing his deep connection to the city of Pittsburgh.
The statue serves as a tribute to his impact on the game, his advocacy for Latin American players, and his lifelong commitment to helping others.
